About the Author / Illustrator:

Grant Collier has been working as a photographer and writer since 1996 and is the author of 21 books. In order to depict landscapes similar to those that dinosaurs inhabited, Grant used photos he’d taken from throughout the world, including Norway, New Zealand, and Canada. The images showing where Tiki the Toucan lives were taken in Costa Rica, since this is where many toucans live today. For a few of the images, Grant used a tablet to draw parts of the landscape, including ancient trees. Grant carefully blended Stephanie’s artwork into his images. He adjusted the lighting on the animals to match the lighting in each photograph.

Stephanie Lowman has been sketching and painting for over thirty years. Bringing to life the dinosaurs and early reptiles in this book was one of her most challenging tasks. Stephanie researched these animals and studied their fossils to learn how they might have looked. She then spent countless hours drawing all of the animals line-by-line. Stephanie currently lives in Evergreen, Colorado, with her children, Osiris the Dog and Cassidy the Cat. She is the illustrator of all of the "Dreaming of..." series of books.
